Stop Online Privacy Act (SOPA) is a bill that was introduced in the United States House of Representatives on 26 October, 2011. As to be used against copyright infringement.
It works like the filtering of DNS (Domain Name System) with DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions). Once the ISP(Internet Service Provider)received an order to stop providing content of websites that included infringed copyright materials, those websites will not be able to be browsed on the Web in America.(Search Engine, Domain Name Company and many more are included)
SOPA aims for a better copyright protection and fight against criminal online trafficking.
